Uganda 2026 Day 5

Uganda 2026 Day 5

Today we left early in the morning to take a flight through MAF to the Moroto airport. After we checked in, we had to wait for some time before they were ready to board us. The team has to split into two planes because they are smaller planes. They do this by the weight of each person and their bag. Then we are also put in a specific row to disperse the weight properly. Dr Bill, Anna and I were in the first row behind the pilot and Dr David. We were starting our takeoff when the pilot stopped. It sounded like he said we had to stop because of a flock of birds. Jen and Lolita were behind me saying that moments like this are when ASL would come in handy, so I did my best to sign many birds. We were all cracking up. I just did a lot of pointing and flapped my arms. Jen understood because of our conversation, but showed me how to do bird. It is more of a beak opening and closing motion. That made us laugh so hard. Then I said singing bird for fun. Not long into the flight anna made herself comfortable and fell asleep with her head on my shoulder. It made my heart so happy. I love this young lady and our relationship has bloomed so fast. She is an amazing person and I hope her parents realize how amazing she is. We were probably like that for 15-20 minutes and then I needed to get meds out of my bag for Dr David. I could not reach it without disturbing her. She just repositioned and fell back to sleep. Dr David asked our pilot if he could fly by a specific mountain because Bethany (his wife) wanted to see it closer. I also did and was thankful we took the quick detour. We landed not long after and were told we had to hurry and leave. The president was flying into Moroto for the Karamojung tribal celebration that is this week, but he was only coming that day. From there we had about a 3 hour drive to clinic in Naturum.

The coster was the last vehicle to arrive. There were already over 500 people waiting to be seen. We unloaded and went to church for an introduction. The rest of the team had already unloaded supplies and was ready for clinic to start. JoAnne had me in church service with Paloma, Anna, Tony, and Jodie. Pastor Linos (former pastor in Rupa Karamoja, but now pastor here) and pastor John (Usuk pastor) were both there too. Jodie gave the salvation message and her testimony, Tony gave a message and testimony, then they asked who wanted to give a testimony after the worship team went. I asked Paloma and Anna if either wanted to. Paloma did not want to at that time because she said her English is not good, but I think it is great. Anna decided to share her testimony of being born with a hole in her heart. She was a toddler and her mom prayed a lot for her. When they took her in for surgery, there was no hole. What an amazing testimony for these people to hear when they are here for medical treatment. I was asked to share my testimony next, but I was nervous. I could not remember one of my messages and I left it at the guest house. It had a testimony in it, but I also felt like I needed to talk about sin. I assumed it was not the time or at least let myself say that. So I asked tony to talk again while I figured it out. Jodie called me to sit next to her. She said that what I have to say is important and that I am very good at teaching. I told her I don’t have a testimony that I can think of, but I have a message. She told me that anything is fine. I was crying (more was said than this) because I knew what God wanted me to talk about, but I was worried because they kept saying testimony. Jodie talking to me reminded and showed me that the roadblock was my human nature and satan’s lies. I was a little embarrassed because I cried and people were watching me, but I took a breath, grabbed my Bible and went in front of hundreds of people to tell them how much they are loved. That God sent his son to take our sins. As I have started doing, I brought my message from Genesis to Jesus. I really felt like God wanted me to mention about the woman caught in adultery. So, I talked about how sin came into the world. Mentioned what sin (murder, lying, gossiping, stealing, cheating) is and then read about this woman. I explained that Jesus did not condemn her for what she did but gave her. That when you come to Jesus and repent, he will forgive you for all your sins. When I was done. Jodie went up and asked if anyone had a testimony to share. A few people came up and shared, one man was really long, almost like a preaching of his own. Then we were starting to transition or had just transitioned and a young lady came near the tent to get a microphone and share her testimony. There were some awful things in her testimony and Jodie realized what’s going on. So she stopped this young woman and pulled her aside into the tent where we could have a very small amount of privacy. Jodie knew instantly that she was possessed. So her and Tony went over to pray for the young woman and she asked Paloma for anointing oil. The moment the oil was visible out of Paloma’s bag, she began to manifest. Being under the tent, there were a lot of chairs that she was knocking over as she was rolling on the ground, and people had to run out of the way. We instantly surrounded her and started praying for her. The worship team that was there circled around us and was singing worship songs the whole time. Other people who knew the songs sang along as well and others just watched. After about 45 minutes of praying and reading the Bible, she was freed. Once this happened, Hector sent Anna, Paloma, and I to lunch because they had been waiting for us for that 45 minutes to come to lunch. Later, Hector told us that the young lady started dancing and singing when she was free and strong enough to get up.

After lunch, we went back to church service. Pastor John, preached with Pastor Linos translating. Then after that, we did a time where people could come to us for a prayer. The first lady that came also manifested, but not as visible as the other young lady. Well, she was being prayed for that first young lady came and knelt down and started praying for this lady as well. It was so cool to witness! When Jodie noticed that she praised Jesus and continued to pray for the lady she was with. With so many other people after this for healings and being free. Then it was time to leave. We went back to the house and had dinner before going to our rooms for the night. The hotel is solar powered, so all our electronics and us using the lights made the electricity go out quickly. It flashed on and off for quite a while. I had to take my shower in the dark. Anna called my cell phone from her room and asked if she could come over and hang out with me so she didn’t have to be alone in the dark. Of course I told her she could join me. She stayed in my room for hours and we talked and laughed the whole time. We went through some questions that I have typed up in my phone that I used to ask John Bosco and David when I was getting to know them. It was really fun laughing with  and getting to know her.
