Uganda 2023 Day 17
Uganda 2023 Day 17
Today we landed in Amsterdam for a short layover. Per a suggestion, we went to Starbucks. They had so many different pastry potions. A few cake slices, donuts, pie slice, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, loaf bread, cookies, etc with multiple flavor choices. I ordered their cookies and cream cake and the new hot chocolate special that had hazelnut. The hot chocolate was not my favorite, but the cake was good. I ate it in three sitting due to it being came and sweet. Nick said the coffee was good because it actually did not taste burned. They also had a funny coffee bean display wall. There were shadow boxes with one bean that had a light shining on it and a magnifying glass so you could see it well. Under the shadow box was a plaque that had info about the coffee bean. I am not sure why this was so funny. Back at the gate, I watched Mark and Tony play cribbage. Mark was ahead 3-1 and he told me I had to take over and win. He wanted to get food before we had to board the plane. Sadly, I lost, but I was not too far behind. During the flight I did get a short nap. I also watched “Angels in the Outfield” in honor of Joel. Destanie, Jen, Mark and I also started to play tricks on Nick. Destanie had given him a couple snacks without saying anything and he did not question. Just took them and started eating them. So, every 30 minutes we are going to randomly hand him a weird item. Destanie gave me a tiny hair net to had to him. I just had it to him as I walk by and then stand by the bathrooms for a few minutes. He stood up by the time I was going back to my chair. He asked what it was and I just shrugged my shoulders. He said he was not feeling well and had stomach pain. I got Joanne with his permission. We came to him and he was in my seat as it was an aisle seat. I had him stay after Joanne found him some meds and I got him another bottle of water. It worked just fine to switch seats. By the time we landed he was doing much better. It is good to be home, but I already miss my Muzungu group and my Ugandans.
