Uganda 2025 Day 21

Uganda 2025 Day 21

Today I spent a lot of time at the house, relaxing, talking to friends and reading. Nathan, the young man my brother used to sponsor, came to pick me up and meet with some other freedom projectz graduates. Dr. John Bosco had given me something to bring to Rhoda. so we ended up planning a day where I could meet up with some other people too. I told Nathan that I was at my cousin’s house and sent him a screenshot of the information so he knew where to pick me up. I told him to honk when he arrived and he sent me a text instead, but there was no car at the door. I asked him if he was at the correct gate and he said he was at the guest house in Seguku. It ended up being a few more minutes of waiting before he arrived. During this waiting time, I was able to talk to the security guard. He finally made it and I got to see his nice car. After Nathan arrived, we were pulling out and he asked me which direction I wanted to go. I told him he needed to decide. He still wanted me to decide and I reminded him that I don’t live in Uganda and he had to decide. We both started laughing about it. I told him he drives like his sponsor. He said, “ really? “ and we both laughed really hard about it. Nathan decided to use the expressway. I was a little lost and thought he was going to the wrong place until we exited the expressway. That is when I started recognizing where we were. When we arrived at Carmel (coffee shop) Rhoda and Shamim had already been there for two hours. they had arrived early and we arrived an hour late. They made fun of Nathan a lot about it. I guess being late is his specialty. Rhoda also kept joking with him about not keeping in contact with her. Shamim is one of the doctors who works with Destiny Doctors. Rhoda had requested to bring her. I did not care who came along. A couple other people that I invited, were not able to come. Nathan and I are both ordered milkshakes, but the other two had already eaten and had ordered drinks. We sat there and talked for a long time. I learned about Shamim. She is the first born again in her family. She has been praying for her family to become born again. And Rhoda has been praying for her great grandma who is a Catholic. Shamim was in the same school as some of the destiny doctors just at different grade levels. She graduated a year after Dr. Bruno. We talked a little bit about Destiny doctors and their sponsorship program. Right now they were trying to get sponsors for children in a very rural village that you have to take a boat to get to. They were telling me about these kids and the sickness and hardship that is in their village. It is so sad. I am so happy Destiny Doctors has a heart to find sponsorship for children in need. They also try to raise funds to help these areas through a pharmacy they have and some of the graduates that are now working. Obviously this is not enough money for what is needed, but I love how they care so much for their country and the people of their country. They are truly living the mission of loving like Jesus. We talked about many other things and made fun of Nathan a lot. Phionah met us at Carmel to drop off an outfit that Papa Moses asked her to get for me for my birthday party next week on Saturday. Rhoda suggested that Phionah and I go to the washroom so she could show me how to put it on properly. It is so beautiful! I am excited to wear it for my party! Phionah could not stay, so I went back to the table. I then handed out some gifts that I brought with me. I had SONAP Bible study sheets, bracelets, baby Jesus, and pop rocks. They enjoyed the pop rocks and loved everything else as well. I made the bracelet special to hand out to people here. We asked one of the waitresses to take our group photo at the table and we used my phone. I sent the photo to all three of them. Both the girls at separate times looked at the photos and said to Nathan that he is American because his skin is so light colored. We were all laughing so hard about it. They said that’s what they tell him. After the photos, we had Nathan pray for us and the works we do. When it was time to leave, Sharma got a ride from Carmel, but Nathan drove Rhoda a little ways away and then she got a boda boda home. He is an architect. When we were leaving, he answered a phone call and was talking about lumber. I mentioned to that I understood what he was talking about because I worked at Home Depot for 7 1/2 years. He said that that is really good experience and girls from here could learn from someone who works at any job. We had some good conversation in the car. Once we arrived back at the house, I took photos of Nathan with his car so I could send them to my brother. Nathan really loves his car and I think it’s a good one! He is a very good driver!
