Uganda 2025 Day 15
Uganda 2025 Day 15
Today after breakfast, we left the hotel and headed back to the guest house. We had more people in the vehicles this time as not everyone who flew to the hotels flew back. The only people who flew back were Dr. David, Bethany, Jodie and Shanna. In my vehicle I had Sam (driver), one of the Ema’s (driver), Jeff, Jess, Chloe and Ross. I actually had my hoodie on for part of the drive because some cool air was seeping in through the window, but then it got really warm. We drove to an area where we could see zebras. We stopped there for a few minutes to enjoy them and take photos and videos. They come over the hill from where there is a national park. It was fun to see zebras in Uganda because this is probably the only place they are. There are no zebras at Murchison Falls. At one point during the drive Chloe and Jess needed to use the restroom. It was a while before we stopped, even after asking, and they were in so much pain. It is hard to need to go to the restroom when you are still going over speed bumps. I was surprised they made it. We travel while longer and stopped at the equator for lunch. Some of the team went and shopped in a little shopping areas there while waiting for lunch to be made. I went over to Martin and reminded him that I wanted a photo with him and his team. He said we could get it after everyone ate. Martin invited me to sit with him and the photographer Ema. They got the buffet lunch and Ema went to get his first. While Martin was getting his food. Ema said, “do you want to see your photos?” I said yes and he showed me the photos he had of me and the safari in general on Martin’s tablet. It was fun to see the photos. They are really good. I guess that is why he is the photographer and has the fancy camera that he called his baby a little later. When Martin came back with and was eating lunch, Ema went to walk around and then sat with the drivers. Martin kept telling me to eat his food. He had the waitress bring me a fork so I could. For this reason I did eat some of his matooke with gnut sauce. It is so good! Jen Grace came over and Martin told her to eat his food too. He even got an extra plate with gnut sauce on it to help convince her to eat more. Then he told us to eat his rice, chicken, and chapati. We are slowly because we wanted him to eat and we still had food coming. It was hard to eat my food when it came. Jen Grace did not finish her fish fingers and Martin did not want them, so I put them in a napkin and gave them to the drivers. They gladly ate them. Many in our group then took photos at the equator sign before we left. This is when I got a photo with Martin and his crew. From there, we drove the rest of the way home. Once we arrived at the house, Jeff decided we would stay for dinner before going to his house so I could say goodbye to the team. I helped pack up medication to save for next year that would not expire before then. Jeff then decided he wanted to go home and because I was planning on returning in the morning, he suggested I just stay overnight. I sent part of my luggage with him so I did not have to bring it all the next day. I am very thankful that I stayed. I was able to stay up later and play black seven with the group who was not packing or already sleeping. Ethan, Arianna, and Sydnee stayed awake until it was time for the first group to leave. I woke up at 1:00 AM after a few hours of sleep to say goodbye.
