Uganda 2025 Day 10
Uganda 2025 Day 10
Today was the first day of the Katwe clinic. James was here doing sound, so I was able to spend a lot of time near him. I was in church service/prayer groups today. In Katwe we don’t have kids church, but we have prayer groups. When the church service is over, people can go directly to education or go to be prayed for and then to education. We started off the morning with group prayer and a short worship time before we had the first service. I saw Shakira this morning before clinic started. I missed this girl. She is one of the world changers. Shakira said she did not see me Saturday, so I explained about riding back from Karamoja instead of flying. During service, out of the first group, about 98% of people came for prayer. The other groups had probably over half the people go for prayer, but none were such a high percentage. Today we had a few people accept Christ into their lives, but usually, most of the people who come on the first day are church people. I was surprised at how low of the numbers of people who came were, but someone pointed out that it was the first day back after holiday, so maybe we will have more tomorrow. After lunch, Jody asked me to lead the salvation message. She said a few words and then introduced me before I went up. I brought my outline that I used last year. I talk about creation and the fall to Jesus. Every time is a little different because I only have an outline, but it is similar. I think two people stood up to accept Jesus into their lives. I prayed for them and then invited Ben to take over sharing. I believe the next group had this guy that was being louder. Later I learned he was drunk. I first noticed him while doing my prayer group. I our team debrief time, is when I learned he was drunk. One of the guys said he did not stay, but left on a boda boda. I really pray that he is ok. That him and everyone around him were safe. Also, that the word of God penetrated his heart and mind while he was at clinic. Not long after we finished service and prayer for the last group, it started to storm. There was so much lightening, thunder and rain. The ditches were flooding and to roofs had a crazy amount of water flowing off them. Of course I convinced Ethan to go to the gate of the church (not that far away) and back. It was fun and we were soaked. I went inside and almost got a good hug from James, but as he was reaching for the hug, he realized I was soaked. Ethan did get a little hug in. Then I decided to go downstairs to see how the clinic was doing. I figured they probably had gotten soaked because it was not only rain, but strong winds. James did not want me to go downstairs because the tile floor was so wet, but I told him I was going. He finally let me when he knew he was not going to win, but he held my arm and made me walk slow. Downstairs, everything had been moved to the opposite side. Because the power went out, people were using their cell phones to shine light on the doctors tables. I ended up doing this at one with James. The water from above was flowing down and filling cracks it could get into. Thankfully, the downstairs did not flood. It was mainly the edges that had water. I found Dr Martin and asked if we could take a photo together with Dr Sam. It would not be as good as last year because we are missing Dr Bruno. I took them upstairs so we would have better light because the power was out. We had been up there a couple minutes when James came and found me because we were heading back to the guest house. In the evening we played Black 7. I watched a couple rounds and thought I understood it, so when Jodie offered her spot to me I took over. It is a fun game.
